Code of Conduct for the Open Science Community Iraq (OSCI)

Introduction

The Open Science Community Iraq (OSCI) is dedicated to fostering an open, inclusive, and respectful community of researchers, educators, and practitioners. Our Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all members and participants, ensuring a positive and enriching environment for everyone to share, learn, and collaborate.

Our Principles

·       Integrity and Transparency: Promote honesty in all scientific endeavors, ensuring that research methods and findings are shared openly and responsibly.

·       Respect: Treat all members with respect, dignity, and courtesy. Valuing diverse backgrounds and opinions enriches our community and advances science.

·       Collaboration: Encourage teamwork and cooperation. Share knowledge and resources freely to support and uplift others in their scientific pursuits.

·       Inclusivity: Strive for an environment where everyone, regardless of background, discipline, or level of expertise, feels welcome and valued. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusionary behavior is unacceptable.

·       Accountability: Take responsibility for your actions and their impacts on the community and the environment. Engage in constructive feedback and be open to learning from mistakes.

Expected Behavior

·       Engage in respectful communication and constructive criticism.

·       Be open to collaboration, offering help and resources when possible.

·       Respect the privacy and intellectual property rights of others.

·       Promote a harassment-free environment for everyone.

·       Report any instances of misconduct or breach of this code in confidence to the OSCI leadership.

Unacceptable Behavior

·       Harassment, bullying, or discrimination in any form.

·       Plagiarism, falsification of research, or other unethical scientific practices.

·       Disrespectful or disruptive behavior that hinders the community's activities.

·       Retaliation against anyone for reporting violations of this code.

Reporting and Enforcement

Members are encouraged to report violations of this code to the OSCI leadership. All reports will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.

Actions may be taken against members who violate this code, ranging from warnings to expulsion from the community, depending on the severity of the breach.
